WINTER EDITORIAL 2020

2020 already has seen some significant changes for our business and as I write this we have just entered Alert Level 3 in response to Covid-19.

To that extent I would like to thank all of the growers, and your employees, who have continued to work under the restrictions placed upon them to ensure communities throughout the country were able to access fresh produce during this time. Whilst we have also been there alongside you, continuing to operate our business supplying and treating vegetable seed – we are all of course consumers as well. It has been heartening to see very little disruption to the supply chain for fresh produce. Thank you.

As to a certain supermarket who charged me $10.98 for a 175gm pack of mini capsicums, I do hope a good portion of this went back to the grower who produced them!

I also wish to personally thank all our growers for your unwavering support and loyalty as we have adapted to the changes within our business, adjustments in supply and our product offering. Also for your understanding as we operate under the Covid-19 restrictions. From adversity grows opportunity and our team here at SPS look forward to continuing to work with our grower partners and to the introduction of a new range of products. Collaboration with the number of existing and new suppliers also continues as we add to our assortment of competitive, well researched vegetable varieties.

Our sales team are enthusiastic as ever to get back out amongst the industry and continue the work we have been doing in trialling new material and supporting sales of our existing range. We appreciate that the world is now a different place and as such that requires us to operate in a different way. Please ensure you inform our employees of any specific requirements you may have for them to visit with you or access your properties.

It is important to our business and myself that we recognise and respect the opportunity we have to conduct business with our customers and their operations. I am happy to hear from any of our customers should you wish to discuss a matter with me, positive or constructive.
